Sinda Vanderpool, Ph.D., to be the next President and Vice Chancellor of St. Mary's University in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Dear Faculty and Staff:
If you haven’t yet heard the exciting news regarding one of our colleagues, I wanted to share with you that Sinda Vanderpool, Ph.D., Associate Vice Provost for Academic Enrollment Management, was announced yesterday as the next President and Vice Chancellor of St. Mary’s University in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She will begin her tenure as president on July 1, 2022.
Dr. Vanderpool joined Baylor University in 2004 as a faculty member in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures. She then served as Director of the College of Arts & Sciences (CASA) office before moving into the Office of the Provost in 2010 as then-Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Enrollment Management. She has served in that capacity since that time, overseeing the Paul L. Foster Success Center and working with Deans, Department Chairs, and Directors across campus to deepen engagement with recruitment and student success in their respective areas.
Dr. Vanderpool has been a trusted friend and colleague for many years, and I am so happy and excited for her as she transitions into this new role at St. Mary’s. I have no doubt that she will succeed greatly as a powerful leader for the university and serve as a tireless advocate for all members of the St. Mary’s community. I anticipate that she will be especially successful at growing the institution, representing the university throughout Canada, and integrating the Catholic intellectual tradition into all aspects of the school’s liberal arts experience.
On behalf of the Baylor community, I want to thank Dr. Vanderpool for all that she has contributed to Baylor for so many years and wish her the very best as she makes this transition. Sinda, be sure to take Baylor with you, and may you fling your green and gold afar to every corner of Canada.
Sincerely,
Wes Null, Ph.D.
Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Institutional Effectiveness
