New Faculty Orientation
The major event that you will participate in with the Office of the Provost as part of your onboarding is the two-day New Faculty Orientation. This orientation is mandatory for all new full-time faculty and is a crucial part of providing you with the information you need to succeed.
If your attendance is required, you will receive an email from Ms. Amber Kivlighn.

The New Faculty Orientation will be held off campus at the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (100 Research Pkwy, Waco, TX 76704), starting promptly at 8:00 a.m. Attending both days is mandatory. A full agenda will be shared in advance.
- In-person New Faculty Orientation on August 17 and 18 is mandatory training, even for those not new to Baylor.
- If you are a remote or distant faculty member, please contact your department. They will assist with travel arrangements and expenses related to travel.
- Coffee and water will be provided throughout the day for both days.
- You are not required to bring a laptop; we will provide slides.
- The gate should be open; you can park toward the front, as it will be a hot couple of days.
- This is a large group; the room will be cozy.
- The dress attire for orientation is dressy casual.
- Dressy casual means that you don’t have to look like you’re going to work, but true casual isn’t appropriate for the occasion.
- We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bringing a sweater. The rooms are usually cooler.
- Please refrain from wearing shorts.
- On August 18, we will take a group photo.
- For the School of Nursing and remote faculty traveling to attend orientation, our photographer will be available to take headshots directly after the group photo on August 18.
The New Faculty Dinner will be on Monday, August 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Baylor Club Ballroom. The dinner is more than just a meal -- it's an opportunity to connect with your new colleagues in a relaxed and friendly setting. You'll have the chance to enjoy some delicious food and great company. Your presence will help us continue this wonderful tradition and (we hope!) make you feel at home.
The RSVP request will be sent via email on August 1. Please R.S.V.P. by August 7.
| Note: You must RSVP for the banquet by August 7, whether or not you plan to attend. |
Here are a few things to know about the dinner.
- You are allowed to invite one (1) adult guest.
- The dress attire is dressy casual.
- There is not a formal agenda for the dinner.
- We will create table assignments from the RSVP form.
- Each table will have a host, and the host will receive your bio. Our table hosts include the president, vice provosts, deans, and other campus partners.
| This is a busy time of year for you all! If you are unsure if you or your adult guest can attend, we recommend that you wait until August 7 to R.S.V.P. |
