Temporary Part-Time Lecturer--faculty who are hired for temporary part-time positions on a semester basis or for the full academic year.

Temporary Full-Time Lecturer--faculty who are hired for temporary full-time positions on a semester basis or for the full academic year. Appointments for a full year may be renewed once. Therefore, faculty may serve two years, at most, in temporary full-time lecturer positions.

Regular Full-Time Lecturer--faculty who are engaged to teach classes full-time, usually on a yearly basis, and who receive letters of appointment for one year. These appointments may be renewed up to five times. Therefore, regular full-time lecturers may serve six years, at most, in these positions. During the sixth year, the Department must decide whether to recommend that the faculty member be promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer. Senior Lecturer--faculty who have completed six or more years as full-time lecturers at Baylor, and have been appointed to the Senior Lecturer position, who are engaged to teach full-time, and who receive letters of appointment for two years.
