Assistant/Associate Vice Provost for Student Access

The assistant/associate vice provost for student access will work closely with the vice provost for undergraduate education and academic affairs (VPUE) and faculty and staff from across campus to ensure access to a high-quality education for all undergraduate and graduate students. In particular, the position will oversee the Office of Access and Learning Accommodations (OALA), manage the Honor Council process, oversee academic and commencement appeals alongside the VPUE, and assist the University in achieving goals related to student success at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about student accommodations, have experience managing student-related issues at the undergraduate and graduate levels, serve as a strong communicator who can manage delicate circumstances with thoughtfulness and confidentiality, and have the capacity to advocate for students while at the same partnering well with faculty to achieve common goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct reports:
- Director of the Office of Access and Learning Accommodations.
- Specific areas of oversight:
- Academic appeals.
- Honor Council cases.
- Liaison to faculty related to student accommodations.
- Commencement appeals.
- Academic Operations Committee (alongside the VPUE).
- Liaison to Graduate School and Graduate Professional Education.
- Curriculum management with VPUE (when appropriate).
- Collaboration across the Success Center to achieve student success goals.
Qualifications
- In addition to the qualifications listed above, all candidates must currently hold a full-time faculty position at Baylor. All senior lecturers, associate/full clinical faculty, and tenured faculty at the rank of associate professor or professor are welcome to apply.
